There are five phases of editorial process in this journal.
Editorial Review Phase: All submitted manuscripts will be evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief to determine their suitability for formal review. Manuscripts that lack originality or are inadequately original are declined prior to their submission for formal peer review. Serious scientific or technical defects, an exceptionally high rate of similarity with prior publications (plagiarism), or the absence of a significant statement are additional reasons for rejection. Additionally, manuscripts that are improbable to pique the interest of the DBJ's readers face the possibility of rejection at this stage. The completion time for the editorial evaluation ranges from one to seven days.
Peer Review Phase: The phase of peer review consists of at least two independent referees who conduct a "double-blind" examination of the subjects. The procedure for peer review is detailed here.
Editorial Decision Phase: After evaluating the two referees' responses, the editor or section editor will render a verdict regarding the submission, which will then be presented to the Editor-in-Chief for final approval.
Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting to ensure proper usage of grammar, punctuation, format, and print style. The formatted page proof is provided to the author who is corresponding. The corresponding author is anticipated to return the revised proofs within seven days.
Layout editing and proofreading phase: The final proof of the article will be provided to the editor in PDF format, adhering to a predetermined journal layout. At this stage, no appreciable alteration occurs. The only requirements for authors are proofreading their writing format (including punctuation, errors, and layout) and names and affiliations. Within five days, the corresponding author is anticipated to return the final proof.
Online Publication: DBJ offers a press article, which signifies that the article is published prior to the issue. In order to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and information more rapidly and extensively, the journal promptly publishes articles online as 'Current Publication' following the completion of revision. It will subsequently be published in the forthcoming issue.
Reviewer Process
The submitted manuscript is first reviewed by an editor. It will be evaluated in the office, whether it is suitable for Dewata Biomedicine Journal focus and scope or has a major methodological flaw and similiarity score by using iThenticate.
The manuscript will be sent to at least two reviewers (double-blind review). Reviewers' comments are then sent to the corresponding author for necessary actions and responses.
The suggested decision will be evaluated in an editorial board meeting. Afterwards, the editor will send the final decision to the corresponding author.
Reports from referees
It is requested that referees assess whether the manuscript:
- Is original in both methodology and thought (including data).
- Is the methodology sound?
- Presents results in a lucid manner that substantiates the conclusions.
- Accurately and comprehensively cite prior pertinent literature
- Adheres to appropriate ethical standards, particularly with regard to plagiarism.
- Clearly contributes to the advancement and growth of the field.
While language correction is not integral to the peer-review process, referees are motivated to propose language and style improvements for the manuscript. As the round concludes, the handling editor will review the content for linguistic and stylistic accuracy and may propose or implement revisions during this phase. On rare occasions, the authors may be requested to return the manuscript for a comprehensive linguistic and stylistic revision.
Review Outcomes
The Editor will make a final publication decision using feedback from the peer review process. The review process will take approximately 12 weeks. Decisions categories include:
- Reject- Rejected manuscripts will not be published and authors will not have the opportunity to resubmit a revised version of the manuscript to Dewata Biomedicine Journal.
- Resubmit for Review– The submission needs to be re-worked, but with significant changes, may be accepted. However, It will require a second round of review.
